Nothing the world can offer you is fundamentally finer than the achievements and creations you make through your own efforts. You can enjoy and appreciate the art and talent of others, we all do, but real joy comes from learning and doing things yourself.
At the very beginning, when my artwork began to appear in fanzines, like this drawing did, I was truly inspired to keep going, to keep learning, to keep getting better. I owe a lot to those editors of science fiction fanzines who published my artwork, they paved the road for me to travel to the world of professional illustration.
